Jessie May is inviting supporters to walk on fire this Bonfire Night to help raise money for the children’s hospice at home charity.

The charity, whose nurses support terminally ill children across Swindon and Wiltshire, is encouraging individuals to take on the challenge this November.

Supporters are invited to take part in the fire-walk on November 5 at Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park, which is hosting its annual fireworks display and funfair.

Community fundraiser Helen Mackie said: “It’s safe to say we are all fired up for this exhilarating fundraising challenge. This is without a doubt the shortest sponsored walk Jessie May will offer – and also the hottest!

“Bonfire Night brings the whole family together, and this year we want to make it even more exciting, and really turn up the heat.

“Those taking part in the fire-walk will have two hours of training before taking on the coals, which will be led by Blaze Firewalking, the charity fire walking experts.

“It costs £10 to register for the extreme event and we ask that firewalkers raise a minimum of £100 for taking on the challenge in support of Jessie May. Then on the night, the fun begins."

Gates open to the public at 5pm, with the display taking place at around 7.15pm. The minimum age for firewalkers is 14, with parental consent required for all 14 and 15-year olds.
