Police are carrying out immigration checks on the A419 in Swindon this morning.

They were pulling over vans and cars into a layby between the Blunsdon and Honda junctions of the southbound carriageway checking on people travelling to work.

The checks meant that rush hour traffic on the dual carriageway was backed up from the checkpoint as far back as the Cricklade junction.

A review of the licence of the Taj Mahal restaurant in Shaw Ridge will be held next week after immigration officials allege they found four men from Bangladesh working there illegally.
