THREE men were arrested after officers carried proactive patrols in Swindon.

Around 10.30pm on Thursday, officers patrolling the Drove Road area noticed suspicious activity by an address.

They then arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of burglary and, while searching the flat, found a large quantity of class A drugs, cannabis and weapons strewn around the place.

Two other men were located inside the property- one hid in a wardrobe.

The 22-year-old man and 23-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs drugs.

All three local men are currently in custody.

A stolen bike was also recovered from the property.

Sgt Nigel Kinderman said: "Our officers are constantly on the look-out for suspicious activity and on this occasion were successful in disrupting a drug dealing operation.

"In the process we have also taken some more weapons out of circulation.

"Drug dealing is always linked to other crime and we often find stolen property and weapons at the same time.

"The haul of weapons and drugs was particularly large - but I want to reassure the general public that this an exception rather than the rule and generally Swindon is a safe place to live in.

"An incident like this also sends the message that we are listening to local people and we will act on any information you give us."

Call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you suspect anyone dealing in drugs or carrying out any sort of criminality in your area.
