COURT: Magistrates ordered a 19-year-old to do 250 hours of unpaid work after he took a motorcycle without the consent of the owner.
Michael O’Driscoll, of Wilcox Close, who also goes by the surname Lockey, pleaded guilty to the theft on April 26. He also admitted using it in a public place – the car park in White Beam Court – without insurance or a licence.
He was banned from the roads for six months by the Swindon bench and made the subject of a 12-month community order.
O’Driscoll was also instructed to pay a victim surcharge and prosecution costs totalling £170.
COURT: Thief Leslie Stevens was given a conditional discharge for six months when he pleaded guilty to stealing a pair of headphones valued at £149 from HMV.
Stevens, 49, of Lyndhurst Crescent, Park North, was told to pay £20 to wards victim services, but the bench made no order for compensation after hearing his social worker had handed the headphones to the police.
COURT: Dwayne Bryan was told to pay a total of £420 for stealing a £225 bike.
The 33-year-old of Booth House, admitted carrying out the theft on September 18. Swindon magistrates instructed him to pay £225 compensation, an £80 fine and £115 towards court costs and victim services.
