A SPATE of thefts around the Royal Wootton Bassett area have sparked a police warning.

One of the incidents happened at 9.40am on Sunday, September 23.

A black coat, containing a wallet with various bank cards and a driving licence inside, was stolen from a unit at the Interface Business Park in Binknoll Lane.

According to police, it may have been stolen by someone who was visiting the site as a courier driver.

Officers are waiting to view CCTV to find out more details on the incident.

PC Jordan Gratton, from Wiltshire North Community Policing Team, said: “We would always advise people to keep valuable items somewhere safe if you are having people you do not know coming into your home or place of work.

“Obviously the vast majority of courier or delivery drivers are honest people, who are simply going about their work.

“However, it is advisable to make sure you do not leave valuables, such as wallets, phones or cash, lying around unsupervised or on display.

“This incident at the Interface Business Park is one of a number of similar crimes reported to us recently, and we would urge anyone with information, or who saw someone acting suspiciously around the time of the theft, to contact us.”

Anyone with information should call PC Gratton on 101, quoting crime reference 54180090096.

Alternatively people can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
