MORE men have been arrested after a fight on Clifton Street over the weekend.

Armed police officers helped detectives raid a town centre home, as two men were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. It followed what eyewitnesses described as a machete fight on Saturday night, that saw a 15-year-old boy rushed to hospital with a stab wound to his chest.

The men, both 24-years old and from Swindon, were arrested on Sunday. One was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. The other man was arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent.

A large amount of drugs were also seized from a home in Swindon town centre.

Det Insp Paul Hacker of Swindon CID attempted to reassure nearby residents.

“This is a complex investigation involving a large number of people involved in a disorder, as well as a number of witnesses who are continuing to help us piece together exactly what happened on Saturday night,” he said.

“I want to reassure the public that we are making progress and our investigation is continuing.

“Please don’t be alarmed if you continue to see a police presence in some parts of Swindon, we will be carrying out extra patrols to provide some reassurance for the community.”

Wiltshire Police has appealed for anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage of the fight to call Swindon CID on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
