WRAG Barn Golf Club members and friends went out in the dark wearing glow stick necklaces and carrying torches to light their way around nine holes of golf, raising £728 for community radio station Swindon 105.5
The Glow Golf was set up with fairway lights, illuminated golf balls and glowing greens for the teams of four who played a Texas Scramble. But instead of a shot gun start, a rocket was sent into the sky.
A clear night and the Highworth firework display were an added bonus for people who hit a wayward ball.
Back in the golf club after the Friday night challenge, team prizes were presented by Shirley Ludford from Swindon 105.5. “This was a great idea and fun to watch people coming in glowing, literally, from their challenge. Huge thanks to all involved," she said.
“We were delighted that so many people supported this golf challenge. A slightly bonkers idea but it really worked and a lot of fun was also to be had," said Tim Manners, co-owner of the club. “We are very pleased to support the radio station and its service to our community."
