TRIBUTES will be paid across Swindon with parades and remembrance services taking place to honour the fallen of the First World War and all conflicts since then.

On Saturday, to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the end of the first world war, tree planting will be taking place at Dorcan Field with a parachute display. It will start from 10am.

On Remembrance Sunday there is a variety of events taking place in and around the town.

Highworth will be holding its annual remembrance service, starting the day of tributes at 9:15am when the parade forms in the Brewery Street car park. There will also be a memorial service in St. Michael’s Church.

Over in Royal Wootton Bassett the parade will set off from the Iceland car park at 10.20am and wreaths will be laid at the war memorial.

The town centre will also be hosting a service organised by the RAF Association at the Cenotaph in Regent Circus, which will begin at 10.30am.

At Radnor Street Cemetery, in Old Town, where there are Commonwealth war graves, there will be a service at 2pm.

St Augustine’s Church, in Rodbourne, is also doing a special remembrance service at 10.30am to remember soldiers from Rodbourne who were killed.

In Lyneham 1000 REME soldiers will parade at 10am.
