Increased provision of nursery education for two-, three- and four-year-olds is on the agenda for councillors in Swindon this evening.
Members of Swindon Borough Council's Cabinet Panel on School Organisation will discuss proposals to offer such early years education at two existing primary schools in the town - at Bridlewood Primary in Chartwell Road in Blunsdon, and Nythe Primary in Nyland Road.
Of responses made to an online survey about lowering the admission age to Bridlewood primary, 94 per cent agreed with the proposals.
The current capacity at the school is for 270 pupils and the proposed expansion will increase this to 322 pupils.
If the proposal is approved the school will seek to build a new classroom on site and turn an existing classroom into a nursery.
The current capacity at Nythe is for 285 pupils and that could increase to 337 pupils. The school will use the existing nursery space currently occupied by Nythe pre-school and extend the school's opening times.
The meeting starts tonight at 6pm.
