LIFESAVING kit stored in a Swindon shopping centre helped save a shopper's life.
It is the second time in a year the defibrillator at the Brunel Centre has been used by first aiders.
Jane Stewart, acting centre manager for The Brunel, said: “In August 2017 we were able to purchase the defibrillator, which was partly funded by a grant from Swindon Lions.
“We felt it was important to have this equipment available as it has been shown that using a defibrillator quickly enough in instances of cardiac arrest can have a massive impact on survival rates.
“The defibrillator has been used twice by our first aiders since last August and we are pleased that their fast action has made a positive difference on each occasion.”
South Western Ambulance Service said they were called to The Brunel at around 11.40am on Monday. Air ambulance critical care paramedics were also called to the scene.
A man was taken to Great Western Hospital by ambulance.
The Brunel’s Jane added: “Our thoughts are with the gentleman and his family and we wish him a very speedy recovery.”
