TRIBUTES have been paid to a “musical” 11-year-old girl who has died after a crash in Stratton.

Emily Williams, who was taken to Bristol Children’s Hospital following the accident on Meadowcroft on Friday, died yesterday afternoon.

Her family paid tribute to the generous girl who last year donated her hair to charity and whose organs would also be donated to help those on the transplant register.

The family said in a statement: “Emily was very musical and was always singing.

“Last year, Emily donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust which provides wigs for children who suffer from medical conditions or trauma. Emily’s hair was plaited and had bows and ribbons in and was then professionally cut to make the donation.

“Emily has now donated her organs to help others.”

Flowers and cards have been placed at the scene of the crash.

One read: “May you rest and never be forgotten. We love you.” Another simply said: “I will miss you so much, Emily.”

On social media, scores of Swindon Advertiser readers left their own tributes to Emily.

Debbie Knotts wrote: “Absolutely devastating news, my heart goes out to the family and friends of the beautiful girl, who has helped lots of people in her life and is still continuing to help people now.”

Sharon Johnson said: “A beautiful young lady, taken so young from her family and friends. Rest in peace. Thoughts with your family and friends.”

Angela Owen added: “My heart and thoughts go out to her family. So very sad.”

Following the crash, resident Jill Page told the Advertiser: "I was shocked when I heard the sirens, it was a bit scary.

“A helicopter landed out the back on the Meadowcroft recreation ground.”

Meadowcroft resident of 36 years Jill Mundy paid tribute to the girl and to the driver of the Mercedes, who she said remained at the scene of the crash: “I’ve never seen anything like that. It shook me up.”

Wiltshire Police has appealed for witnesses to the accident on Friday, November 16. A silver Mercedes C180, driven by a 26-year-old local man, was involved in the incident. The force said the driver had remained at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the crash should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
