THREE moped riders have been fined hundreds of pounds each by magistrates for riding without licences and insurance in Pinehurst.

The trio were caught riding mopeds anti-socially in the car park next to Liquor World on White Beam Court in April 2018.

Liam O'Driscoll, 21, from Thornbridge Avenue, Park South was fined £880 and ordered to pay £151 in costs.

Brandon-Lee Rouse-McCue, 21, from Lyndhurst Crescent, Park North was fined £1,100, ordered to pay £151 in costs and given six points on his licence.

Mason Swain, 18, of no-fixed address, who was also convicted of riding without a helmet and riding without due care and attention, was fined £1,320, ordered to pay costs of £151 and and given nine points.

PC Nick Payne said: "This is a good result, hopefully sending the message to anyone who chooses to ride illegally that you will face a substantial penalty.

"I also hope it reassures people living in Pinehurst that this type of behaviour won't be tolerated and those responsible will be punished.

"I would encourage anyone who experiences any anti-social behaviour in their area to report it to us on 101 or, if you wish to remain anonymous, via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
