PARAMEDICS, police and firefighters took part in an intense new fitness class at the David Lloyd gym in Swindon.

They were put through their paces in a high-intensity interval training workout class, which was synced to music played by dance DJs and led by an instructor.

Every participant wore a heart rate monitor throughout their 45-minute session to track their progress and were split into different zones depending on how hard they were working. which added a competitive element to the session.

The fitness fans spent five-minute rounds on Woodway treadmills, a weight bench called the Blaze box, and suspended punch and core bags.

They burned between 500 to 1,000 calories during the class.

Beth Shipway, general manager for David Lloyd Swindon, said:“The Blaze studio brings boutique-style fitness to Swindon and is perfect for those looking to train in a fast-paced and exciting environment with varied and challenging exercises.
