A POSSE of piglets that went on the run between Brinkworth and Malmesbury today were rescued by police.
PCSO Juliet Evans, who is part of Wiltshire Police’s rural crime team helped Royal Wootton Bassett colleagues to herd the adventurous porcines to safety over the B4042.
The owner was later found.
The escapade, just a few miles away from the town where the Tamworth Two went on the run for more than a week in 1998, prompted a flurry of porky puns on the police’s Facebook page.
“Crackling job!! Well done,” wrote Anne Dawson.
Robert Barnett added: “Saved the farmer’s bacon there.”
