SHOPPERS trying to get their all their gifts in time for Christmas have said they are starting to avoid the Designer Outlet Village because of the traffic.
The Outlet village attracts shoppers into Swindon, especially in the run up to Christmas, but some told the Adver the traffic was beginning to put them off visiting.
David and Linda Colder, from Chippenham, said they came by train to avoid the worst of it.
“We’ve heard the traffic is really bad around Christmas," they said. "But we’re are not going to come as often because the train is so expensive. We’re not going to spend £14 on a return every time.”
Anna Miles, from Swindon, said: “Last Monday I drove round for half an hour trying to find a space. I do love the outlet but if you can’t find a parking space you can’t enjoy it. I won’t go again before Christmas.”
Liam Vivien, from Swindon, who got there early and spent most of the day there without any problems, said: “I got here at nine o’clock and there was loads of parking. The only think I would criticise is there should be more parking for families.”
