A MAN has died in a bungalow fire in Park South

Wiltshire Police said: "A deceased male was found at the address, believed to be the tenant of the property. His death is being treated as non-suspicious at this time.

"Police and fire are currently at the scene continuing their investigations into the cause of the fire, again believed not to be suspicious at this time."

A private ambulance could be seen leaving the property on Studland Close, off Marlowe Avenue, at around 7.45pm.

Forensics officers, detectives from Swindon CID and a fire investigations officer remain at the scene.

Several residents on quiet Studland Close said their carbon monoxide alarms had gone off earlier this afternoon, with a Swindon Borough Council officer called out to investigate.

Neighbours tonight described their shock at seeing the huge emergency service response to the fire, at around 4pm this afternoon.

Pauline Mears, 72, said: “It’s a lovely area. This is a shock.”

Douglas Warman, 77, added: “You don’t normally see anything like this around here at all. It’s so peaceful and quiet.

“I couldn’t believe it when I looked out."
