A CHRISTMAS family funday will be held at the Western Community Centre for the first time in more than 10 years.

Families can look forward to face painting, decorating gingerbread men, making cards, browsing a variety of stalls from craft sellers and local businesses, and eating mince pies.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Christmas event without Santa Claus popping in to spread some cheer at his grotto.

All profits from this Sunday's fun day will go towards improving the community centre.

Entry costs £3 per child. Joining a wreath-making workshop at the event will cost £15.

Glinn Hambridge, chair of the community centre, said: "We have put a lot of planning into this event to give something back to local community at Christmas and also give people the opportunity to come and see what the Western Community Centre does and join some of the amazing groups we have here.

"We are determined to stand on our own two feet and work with our community to deliver a community centre they can be proud of."

The event lasts from 2pm to 6pm.
