GREAT Western Hospital staff are hosting a public health talk tonight for carers in and around Swindon who are looking after someone with a long-term health condition.

The talk will provide everyone who attends with guidance and advice on the variety of available support that the hospital trust provides to carers, including the Carers Café and Carers Passport, which gives carers access to a range of benefits including a range of discounts, offers and freebies.

There will also be insight and advice shared by one of the NHS Foundation Trust’s new admiral nurses who supports families and carers looking after someone with dementia.

Rachel Palfreeman, the trust’s carers lead, said: “The trust is proactively offering and supporting carers, to ensure our patients can continue receiving sufficient care after discharge.

“We work closely with Swindon Carers and Carers Support Wiltshire to help people recognise themselves as carers because often, people who care for their families have no clue that they are in fact carers, and they are not aware of the support that’s available to them locally.”

The two-hour talk will be held from 6pm tonight in the Academy at the Great Western Hospital.
