TESCO Extra in Swindon has created a magical winter wonderland to try and raise funds for three charities.

They have even made that part of the store cold, to give it an authentic feel.

The Ocotal Way based supermarket has already raised £700 during its five days of running – it will be open until December 23 and the store has set a target of raising £3,000.

All proceeds will go to Tesco’s selected charities which are Diabetes UK, the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK.

Michelle Hobbs, the stores community champion, said: “We’re very proud to announce our newly built winter wonderland, with the goal to give children a magical experience and raise funds for those in need of our help this Christmas.

“We would like to thank our colleagues, the Swindon community and Enterprise Works for supplying incredible props for our community space.

“We are passionate about charity here and we know that the money raised can really change people’s lives.”

Families are able to meet Santa Claus and his wife, plus their elves, when they visit the in-store grotto.

It costs £10 for children and £7 for infants under three years of age to get to meet Santa; the cost includes a present for the children.

The Christmas grotto will not be open on Mondays.
