A BOUTIQUE hotel in Bradford on Avon has won a national award for laying out a welcome mat for man’s four-legged friends.

Widbrook Grange was awarded the title of Waggiest Welcome in the PetsPyjamas 2018 Dog-Friendly Travel Awards.

The hotel was one of 12 winners as part of the

pet-friendly holiday company’s recognition of the special destinations that lead the way by offering a truly pet-friendly experience.

Last year’s Best Newcomer winner, Widbrook Grange impressed judges once again to win this year’s Waggiest Welcome award.

Charlotte Dent, owner of Widbrook Grange, said: “At Widbrook Grange, we take pride in providing the warmest of welcomes and the utmost care to your four-legged friends.

“We love seeing dogs roam around in our beautiful gardens, indulge in our doggilicious doggy afternoon tea and curl up by the fire after a long day with their humans.

“The team are dog mad and take extra care looking after and attending to every doggy’s needs. We hope to put a smile on everyone’s faces as they certainly do on ours, for us that is the ultimate reward.”

She added: “The whole team are over the moon to have won Waggiest Welcome and it’s amazing to have our efforts recognised.

“We put so much hard work into creating lasting memories for dog owners and their dogs and to give them the ultimate pet-away and will continue to do so going into 2019.”

At the heart of the country farmhouse retreat is a pure love for dogs – from the welcoming staff to the access dogs are afforded to the bar, snug and conservatory areas.

Guests with dogs can run them around 11 acres of grounds or walk them along the Kennet & Avon Canal towpath and afterwards relax in the indoor pool and or the hotel’s Gin Bar.

PetsPyjamas co-founder, Karen Hanton, said: “We firmly believe that where there’s a dog there’s a family, so of course we want to make them part of our holidays.

“After another year of our travel business doubling in size, we know that people love to go away with their pets.

“Dogs are great at helping you unwind from the stresses of modern life and even as a solo traveller, you are never alone when they’re around.”

“Taking them away with you cancels out the added expense of kennel and boarding fees, so it’s a win win.”
