A HEART doctor stopped patients in their tracks as her performed a medley of Christmas tunes outside Great Western Hospital.

Dr Bill McCrea, a consultant cardiologist at the Swindon hospital, sang together with junior doctors in aid of Brighter Futures.

“The work the hospital charity does is really fantastic,” he said. “The people of Swindon get extra in the hospital because of the hard work Mrs Newman, the fundraising manager, and her team.”

Keen musician Dr McCrea scored a hit in 2016 with single Yahweh Christmas Cheer, recorded with hospital rockers the Wiltshire Heart Throbs. It reached 121st in the music charts.

This week, the consultant sang alongside junior doctors Rinata Farah on guitar and saxophonist Stephen Hardman.

Dr Farah said: “It’s not something you expect to be doing when you apply to be a junior doctor.” Dr Hardman, who played music to help pay his way through medical school, joked: “I came, I saw, I honked.”
