Firefighters from across Swindon were sent to a series of false alarms overnight.

'Car fire' near Sainsbury's

STRATTON: Crews from Swindon and Stratton fire stations were sent to reports of a car on fire near Sainsbury’s, Oxford Road, shortly after 8.20pm on Christmas Eve.

“This was found to be a false alarm caused by oil in the engine bay,” Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

Carbon monoxide alarm

BLUNSDON: Shortly before midnight, someone called 999 after their carbon monoxide alarm kept sounding.

A crew from Stratton was sent to the call on Wirral Way. It was found to be a false alarm.

System fault

RODBOURNE: A 999 caller reported a fire alarm sounding at a home on Scarborough Road at 1.25am on Christmas Day.

When Swindon and Westlea firefighters were sent to investigate, they found that a system fault had caused the alarm.
