THREE community organisations have joined forces to help clear rubbish in Pinehurst as part of the Plastic Free Swindon campaign.

The litter picking event will take place tomorrow starting at 10am from outside the Pinetrees Community Centre and running until 1pm.

Swindon Street Reps, Swindon Climate Action Network and RSPCA North Wiltshire representatives are pulling on their gloves for the effort

A Pinehurst Initiative Forum spokesman said: “There is rubbish all over Swindon. It’s so unnecessary. We want to set the example in this part of town first and hopefully carry it out to other areas across town.

“The litter injures animals, looks horrible and much of it needn’t have been made in the first place.

“We are going to start the new year as we intend to go on, doing something positive to help.”

The group has asked that anyone who would like to get involved with helping wears appropriate clothing suitable for the cold weather conditions.

Children are allowed to join in but must be accompanied by an adult.
