SWINDON Folk Club is celebrating its 59th anniversary later this month.
The club was founded by Ted and Ivy Poole in 1960 to gather likeminded people together and enjoy and promote folk music in the town in an effort to keep traditional music alive.
To help its members celebrate almost six decades, Mischief Afoot will be performing their farewell gig.
This will be the last chance to hear the band performing together, with Becky Dellow on fiddle, John Davis on recorder and bodhran, and Jeff Gillett on guitar, mandola, mandolin, English concertina and vocals.
The club will meet at its new venue, the RAFA Swindon Social Club on Belle Vue Road, at 7.45pm on Friday January 18.
Admission to the event costs £5 per person and all are welcome. After the event, the club will be meeting at the same venue on the first and third Friday of every month.
