Andy Powell and Mark Regan are set to scrum down to a Swindon hotel for a spot of lunch and Six Nations preview.

The Doubletree Hilton Hotel at Lydiard Fields, Great Western Way, is playing host to the preview lunch featuring the rugby union stars on Friday, January 25.

Andy Powell, who played for Merthyr RFC, is a former international player having won his place in the Wales Sevens team, the Wales National Rugby Union team and the British and Irish Lions.

Joining the Cardiff Blues in 2005, Andy became man of the match on a number of occasions, but the following year a shoulder injury put him out of action for the season. The next year was a repeat disaster, this time in his right shoulder which required total shoulder reconstruction.

Not one to be done down he was back fighting for his place in 2008, playing for Wales against South Africa, where he won man of the match. In 2009 he became one of only three British players to be selected for The Barbarians in their battle against New Zealand. He went on to play for Wasps, Sale Sharks, Wigan Warriors and Newport Gwent Dragons.

Joining Andy at the Swindon lunch will be Bristol-born British Lion Mark Ronnie Regan.

Mark was the first player to make his England debut in the professional era of rugby union. Mark was selected for the 1997 British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa. He played a huge part in boosting Bath’s Heineken Cup Victory and Allied Dunbar Premiership. He was voted the Bath forward of the year. By the millennium Mark was back in the England squad and became England’s Number one hooker for he Six Nations Championships. He joined Leeds Tykes and in 2003 played in the England Squad for the Rugby World Cup. Again he made his mark in the 2007 Rugby World Cup by which time he was with Bristol. He captained the Barbarians against South Africa despite’s Bristol’s permission refusal. He simply ignored them and played the games anyway!

Tickets are £600 per table for 10, to hear the players anecdotes and enjoy the preview Six Nations lunch at the Doubletree Hilton. There are also a few individual tickets available. To book or more information call 07810 551197.
