A WORLD record attempt to create the biggest human poppy is being planned for National Armed Forces Day 2019.
To beat the record Wiltshire Council is calling on local areas to bring more than 3,500 people to Salisbury for the event in June.
The current record is around 3,300 people after people gathered on Rememberance Sunday in Cirencester.
Wiltshire Council will commission an artistic director to lead community groups in the 18 community area boards, including Royal Wootton Bassett and Cricklade, to form a giant poppy by participants wearing coloured ponchos.
Funding is being sought from local area boards to pay for coaches, resources and scrutiny, as well as a share of the costs of more than 4,000 coloured ponchos.
