Councillors at the borough council's standards committee - the body to ensure members and officers behave properly - will hear a report in secret later this month.

The agenda for the meeting on January 21 says members of the committee will hold a question and answer session with the leader of the council Coun David Renard.

They will then discuss an update to the authority's ethical framework, including the council's policy on whistleblowers and social media use.

Before the end of the meeting, press and public will be asked to leave for discussion of the last item.

That is billed as an "ethical compliance report" - which might suggest a report into a complaint or concern that someone at the council has not followed the ethical guidelines.

The justification for the private session is that it is more in the public interest to keep the information secret than disclose it

The meeting begins at 5pm.
