A MAN suspected of vandalising Swindon’s war memorial has been arrested, police said.

The 54-year-old Swindon man was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage. He is currently being questioned at Gablecross Police Station.

It follows an incident in the town centre in the early hours of Saturday morning, where up to 50 poppy wreaths were taken from the Cenotaph in Regent Circus and tossed across the road.
