POLICE on patrol around Swindon primary schools have urged drivers to take care when dropping their children off.

At Greenmeadow Primary School, officers noticed cars parked in front of driveways, on corners, and on double-yellow lines.

A spokesman for North Swindon Police said: "A number of drivers moved off as soon as they saw us approach but, if you park in the correct spaces, there is no need to worry.

One driver left their car on double yellow lines and parked in front of a residents driveway.

Please respect the residents and the surrounding area."

Meanwhile, in South Swindon, PCSO Fry and PC Rumbold were patrolling at Holy Family Catholic Primary School this morning.

Speed checks were conducted and police warning notices given to people who were parked in dangerous places.

The school is on Marlowe Avenue, which has a 20mph speed limit but around 15 vehicles - even including two school buses - were pulled over and the drivers spoken to regarding their speed.

One driver was reported for a speeding offence.

Police patrols around this area and around other schools will continue to be carried out.
