A CELEBRANT taking the funeral of Harmonica Man has asked for stories about the Swindon musician.

Michael Thomas Nelder died in the early house of December 30, aged 83. The busker was a common sight on Regent Street, playing his harmonica outside Primark.

He was so popular that a fundraiser set up to pay for his funeral costs was paid-into by almost 500 well wishers.

Next week, mourners was gather in front of his former busking spot in the town centre to remember Mr Nelder. His colourful coffin will then be taken into procession to Kingsdown Crematorium. The coffin is expected to be decorated with a harmonica.

Celebrant Ana Kelly has appealed for those who knew Mr Nelder or remember listening to him play to contribute stories and accounts that can be read out at his funeral.

Both the memorial event outside Primark and Mr Nelder’s funeral will be open to the public. The memorial will start at around 10.30am and the funeral at 11.15am on Thursday, January 24.
