FIRE crews raced to Cricklade after receiving reports of an ablaze washing machine.

Firefighters from Stratton and Swindon went to a house in Stones Lane at 10.23am yesterday, though fortunately, the fire was found to be out when the crews arrived at the scene.

The electrics to the washing machine were isolated by the firefighters and then it was moved to open air.

Natural ventilation was used to clear smoke from the property and the crews completed a Safe and Well visit.

This involved offering advice to the residents on how to reduce the risk of fires and prevent this incident from happening again in the future, and reminders of how to act in the event of a fire.
