WILTSHIRE Council is launching a new campaign to get people to swim the length of the M4 throughout the course of the year.

It is the follow-up to last years swim challenge #SwimTheThames which saw hundreds of people take the 215 mile feat.

There are four different motorways that people can choose depending on difficulty. Ranging from the M32, a 7km swim to the M5/6 combined which is 635km.

The M4 swim is 304km and will see participants complete more than 12,000 lengths of a standard swimming pool.

It’s free to sign up- simply start swimming and record lengths at reception of pools in the council's area.

Alex Hayden took part last year. She said: “I really enjoyed taking part in the Thames Swim Challenge in 2018, it kept me swimming through-out the year and I felt a real sense of achievement when I had finished it. I’ve already started this year’s challenge and look forward to tracking my progress.’

“Doing this challenge definitely made me talk more to other swimmers at the pool which was great. Whether you were there for a few lengths or a lot of lengths, it didn’t matter, we were all just enjoying swimming at the pool together.
