A GLEAMING new dentist has opened its doors for residents on the East Wichel housing development.

Wichelstowe Dental Care has been opened on the 4,000 home development by dentists Keith George and Jane Tidmarsh.

The partners, who have almost half a century of dentistry experience combined, got a loan from Lloyds Bank to do a refurbishment of the surgery, which is open to new NHS patients.

Keith George, founder of Wichelstowe Dental Care, said: “The growing population in and around the area means there is an increasing demand for amenities like shops, restaurants and healthcare services.

"Jane and I have practised dentistry in other surgeries for many years and wanted the challenge of setting up our own practice, in order to continue practicing the high standard of dentistry we are known for.

“When the unit, where Taylor Wimpey’s office used to be, became available we knew it was time to turn the dream into a reality.

"Lloyds Bank has been incredibly supportive throughout the process, and we are looking forward to working with them in the coming months and years as we develop the practice.”

Laura Willoughby, relationship manager for healthcare businesses in the South West at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “There is buoyant demand for dental services across the South West, and Keith George and Jane Tidmarsh have made the most of the boom that the new houses have brought to the local economy.

"They are supplying to a demand they know is there and have received a positive reception from the moment of application.

“GPs, dentists and pharmacists are feeling increasingly confident according to the latest Lloyds Bank Healthcare Confidence Index, making now the perfect time to invest.”

Residents have lived in East Wichel for several years but residents have been waiting for nearby amenities to open up.

The development will get its first food store, a Co-op which will open this Thursday, ten years after the first houses on the south part of the development went up for sale.
