TOOTHILL: Curtis Gaye, 35, of Bosham Close, was given a 26-week suspended prison sentence for stealing thousands of pounds from shops.

Swindon magistrates heard he took £1,580 and then £110 from Wilko on the Greenbridge Retail Park on October 26.

He stole £880 from Peacocks in Regent Street on August 31 and £175 from Home Bargains on August 6.

He pleaded guilty to all four charges which were described as a breach of trust and was ordered to pay more than £2,680 in compensation to the companies as well as a victim surcharge.

The bench imposed a tagged curfew and instructed him to undertake a thinking skills programme.

SWINDON: Mark Thirkettle, 46, of no fixed address, was jailed for a total of 22 weeks by magistrates after admitting charges including theft and assault.

The bench heard he stole fragrances valued at almost £350 from Debenhams and assaulted a man on November 4.

He used a stolen bank card on November 7 to commit a fraud.

Then on November 12 he damaged a window and went into a building with the intention of stealing. He was ordered by the bench to pay £115 towards victim services.

SWINDON: Jonathon Cook, 46, of Hinton Parva, was instructed to do 80 hours of unpaid work when he pleaded guilty to driving when he was almost twice the drink-drive limit.

Swindon magistrates heard he was caught at the wheel of a car in Covingham Drive on November 10 and gave a breath test reading of 69mg to police. The limit is 35mg.

They imposed a 12-month community order on him and banned him from the roads for 40 months.

Cook was also told to pay £170 in victim surcharge and court costs.

SWINDON: Alekseajs Tarasovs, 33, of Water Mint Way, Calne, was fined £300 by Swindon magistrates for failing to provide a specimen of breath for police on October 13 when they were investigating whether he had committed a traffic offence.

Tarasovs had originally denied the allegation but changed his plea to guilty.

He was disqualified from driving for 16 months and told to pay a victim surcharge.

Court costs totalling £115 were also imposed.

ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT: Kirsty Baston, 24, of Chaucer Close, pleaded guilty to assaulting another woman in July and was made the subject of a community order by Swindon magistrates.

The defendant was also told she must complete 40 hours of unpaid work.

She must also pay £170 towards victim services and prosecution costs.

SWINDON: Kerry-Ann Perring, 25 of Palomino Place, landed herself with a bill for almost £100 when she stole goods worth £51 from Wilko on July 16.

Swindon magistrates instructed her to pay compensation plus £40 court costs, to be added to her existing fines and deducted from her benefits.

SWINDON: Robert Pritchard, 21, of Helmsdale, was told to pay compensation of £800 after he pleaded guilty to damaging the front door and a fence belonging to Your Lifestyle.

Pritchard also admitted committing a crime while subject to a conditional discharge that was imposed on August 22 for two counts of causing criminal damage and two of assault.

His total bill from Swindon magistrates came to £1,000 in compensation, fines and court costs.
