SOUTH Swindon MP Robert Buckland learned about needle exchanges, access to detox and rehab during a visit to Impact Swindon and Wiltshire Active Recovery Service

Run by Turning Point, the support service in Temple Street provides a range of support for people with drug and or alcohol problems.

During his visit M Buckland met with Turning Point staff to find out more about the service, what support is available for local residents, and the ways in which Impact works with other organisations like the Nelson Trust.

He also met with a number of peer-mentors who all have experience of substance misuse and use these personal experiences to support current service users in recovery.

Operations manager Ben Judd said: “It was fantastic to welcome Robert to the service and tell him about the support we are able to offer residents struggling with substance misuse issues and the partnerships we have developed with the local mental health, social, police and prohibition services.”
