ROYAL WOOTTON Bassett Town’s veterans team travelled to the National Football Centre in Burton on Trent to play the RAF FA Veterans in a charity football match to raise money for air force veterans.

It was the first of two matches, with the second being scheduled in May.

The game finished in a 6-3 defeat for the RWBT players but the team enjoyed the visit regardless.

The players and guests were able to go on a tour of the the centre before playing on its indoor 3G pitch.

Martin Cooper, Steve Howse and Dave Parker scored for RWBT, though it was not enough as the opposing side were already 3-0 up by the second half.

After the game, RAF FA President Sir Christopher Coville presented a gift to the club’s Head of Veterans Section Nick Warren.

It was handed over in recognition of the significant ties that have been forged between RWB players and the RAF FA over the past few years.
