TWO Ferndale billboard sites could be yours - for £120,000.

The plots go under the auctioneer's hammer this week. Offered by advertising firm JCDecaux, the larger 3,000 sq ft billboard site is on the junction of Osborne Street and Whitehorse Road and has a guide price of £75,000-£80,000. At 1,600 sq ft, the smaller Ipswich Street site is expected to sell for £40,000 - £45,000.

Peter Waterfield, director at auctioneers firm Strettons', said: “The sites are a unique opportunity for local investors to purchase land for potential development. Given their use as billboard locations, the sites sit in prominent position so could suit a range of uses, from keeping them as advertising locations, to developing them into houses, subject to the necessary consents.”

The two Swindon sites are part of a portfolio of 12 plots being sold by advertising agency JCDecaux. Although they are currently used as billboard sites, auctioneers claim the plots could be developed for housing or commercial properties.

Also being sold at the Strettons' auction on Wednesday is a Northamptonshire pub, The Compass Inn, and a commercial site in Newbury expected to sell for £425,000.

Strettons' Peter Waterfield said: “I am looking forward to our first sale of 2019 and I am pleased with the variety of properties in our catalogue. I think the numerous development opportunities will interest the seasoned auction goer and property professionals and I am keen to see how they perform on the day.”

The auction will take place on Wednesday, February 6, from 11am at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms, Great Queen Street, London.
