A GROUP of bike-riding youths seen pulling wheelies the wrong way up a town centre dual carriageway have been told by police to slam the brakes on their behaviour.

The four boys were captured on north Swindon driver Dave Treadwell’s dash cam riding over Fleming Way on Monday afternoon.

In the video, which has been posted to Facebook, three of the boys are seen riding the wrong way down the stretch of dual carriageway outside Jury’s Inn. The third member of the group rides up on to his back wheel, maintaining the stunt move for around nine seconds.

Dave, 27, said: “I wouldn’t say it was scary, but it was certainly shocking for me to have to deal with. If you were a new drover goodness knows what could have happened.”

Wiltshire Police said they had stepped up patrols after being called at around 5.30pm on Monday reporting anti-social behaviour by a group of teenage boys on push bikes in Spring Gardens.

“We have also been made aware of a video posted on social media which shows a group of cyclists in Fleming Way around a similar time,” a force spokeswoman said.

“We did increase patrols in New Town yesterday throughout the early evening but the group had moved on.”

She warned the boys about their behaviour: “We would like to remind this group of people about the risks of cycling dangerously on the road, not only are they putting themselves at risk but other road users as well.”
