THE National Trust team at Mompesson House in Salisbury are getting ready for the 2019 season and are looking for volunteer room guides to help give a warm welcome to visitors and share the stories of the 18nth-century townhouse in Salisbury’s Cathedral Close.
The house is open to visitors every day between March and early November and the team are particularly looking for volunteers to help out on Thursdays and Fridays and at weekends.
Annie Hardie started as a volunteer room guide at Mompesson at the end of 2016 and loves it. She’d been a member of the National Trust for more than 30 years and always said she would like to volunteer when she retired. She describes Mompesson as a ‘small gem of a house’ and a ‘very warm and welcoming place’ to volunteer. She has enjoyed learning more about Mompesson and has discovered a love for social history.
Annie said: ‘I like the flexibility of the rota. I can volunteer on different days each week and it’s lovely to meet so many people. I always have lots of interesting conversations and I enjoy listening to people’s stories.’
Emma James, Visitor Experience Officer at Mompesson said: ‘We’re keen to welcome new faces of all ages to our friendly and enthusiastic team at Mompesson. If you have time to spare, whether a few hours or days a month, we’d love to hear from you. Please phone the house on 01722 335659 or email mompessonhouse@nationaltrust.org.uk’
