A MAN accused of murdering a baby in Swindon has denied the allegation.

Paul Rich, 52, is charged with the murder of three-month-old Patrick Bradley at a house in Thresher Drive on March 30 in 2017.

He faces another two charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent to the infant between March 23 and 26 that year.

Rich, of Sandy Lane, Shrivenham, appeared at Bristol Crown Court by video link yesterday and pleaded not guilty to each of the three charges against him.

Judge William Hart told Rich: "You will remain in custody and the trial will be June 4."

It is understood Rich is not the baby's father.

Charges allege he murdered the baby, caused a number of fractures to his ribs. He is accused of unlawfully and maliciously causing those injuries with intent to cause Patrick grievous bodily harm.

Sally Howes QC appeared for the prosecution during the hearing, while Robert Ross represented Rich.
