Saturdays in Rodbourne are now among the worst days for residents and independent shopkeepers, with customers kept away by the traffic jams.
Kos Dixon runs the Sewing Shop in Rodbourne, and said: "I don't think they can make it better now - I think it's too late. You can do this with yellow boxes or that with lines and no turning here or there, but it's so bad, I don't think it will make any difference.
"We told them it would be really bad when it all started, but they didn't listen to us at all."
Kevin Hillier, who lives in Redcliffe Street, was picking something up from Ron's Stores. He said: "I don't bother taking the car out now, at busy times, like Saturdays. It's just horrendous around here. You get trapped in your street and can't get out."
