A PENHILL man has been jailed for six weeks following a shoplifting spree, where he stole £250 of alcohol and breaching his bail conditions.
On January 15 of this year, Bryan Francis Chubb, 37, from Imber Walk, stole seven bottles of vodka and gin worth over £250 from the Waitrose in Marlborough.
At the time, police said
they were investigating this theft and making enquiries regarding the identity of the suspect.
However, on January 25 Chubb presented himself at Gablecross Police station and told officers that he was handing himself in.
He also revealed that he had cut off his electronic tag and was then charged with breaching his bail conditions.
Chubb was already on bail for previous shoplifting offences from stores in Swindon and was subsequently arrested and charged with the alcohol theft from the Waitrose.
Chubb pleaded guilty at a hearing on January 31 and was sentenced the same day.
