FAMILIES looking for something fun to do over the half term have plenty of things to choose from around Wiltshire.

VisitWiltshire has compiled a lengthy list of activities and events which are being held next week a short distance from Swindon.

The REME Museum in Lyneham will feature a soldier-led assault course and tank-themed fun in its Making Tracks event which runs from February 19 to 22 from 11am to 3pm each day.

Stonehenge is hosting an Awesome Archaeology event from February16 to 24. Young archaeologists can join the team to discover what can be found in their outdoor excavation trench and get hands-on with facial reconstruction experts who will be showing how to use evidence to recreate faces from the past.

Budding Bear Grylls wannabes will have a fun time at the Children’s Bushcraft Taster at Devenish, near Salisbury, on 20 February 20 and at Biss Wood, Trowbridge, the day after. The Wiltshire Wildlife Trust event will teach little ones how to make their own bow and arrows and how to build a survival shelter. Booking in advance is essential.

Vaughan's Cookery School in Devizes is running a Young Chefs Academy on February 20 and 23, with a Mini Chefs version for younger children on February 23.

The Pound Arts Centre in Corsham has got a packed programme of activities planned throughout the half-term holidays.Build Lego masterpieces in Bricking It on February 18, enjoy a magical performance of Fest West: I Wish I was a Mountain on February 20, show off theatrical skills with Imagination Station: All the World's a Stage on February 21, pop along to the Crafty Café on February 22, go to Mosaic Planters with Emma Leith on February 23.
