A CHARITY that rehomes old racehorses and uses them to educate disadvantage or disabled children is hosting race day.

The Wiltshire-based Greatwood charity is holding the event on March 2 at Newbury Racecourse and guests will enjoy a champagne reception, a three-course lunch with wine and afternoon tea, as well as fantastic views of the racing from the hospitality suite.

Sasha Thorbek, fundraiser at Greatwood said: “It costs us more than £500,000 every year to carry out our work, so the money we raise from this event is vital in enabling us to support former racehorses and children and young adults with special educational needs.”

Luke Southgate, regional sales director at sponsor Bloor Homes Southern, said: “This is the fourth time we have sponsored the day and we are thrilled to be supporting such a worthwhile event.

“It’s a great day out in aid of a wonderful cause and we hope this year’s event proves to be another huge success.”

Tickets are still available for the event, priced at £150 per person and £1400 for a table of 10.

The charity is also seeking donations for the silent auction which will take place on the day. For information, call 01672 514535.
