Honda has remained tight-lipped about news the Swindon plant will close, putting 3,500 jobs at risk.
News broke earlier this afternoon the South Marston plant could close by 2022.
Despite confirmation from local MPs in Swindon the company is refusing to provide more details.
A spokesperson for Honda simply said: "At this point, we are not able to make any comments regarding the speculation.
"We take our responsibilities to our associates very seriously and will always communicate any significant news with them first."
The car manufacturer is expected to make a further announcement on Tuesday morning.
