SWINDON Borough Council's leader has said the local authority will do everything it can to support Honda workers and their families.

It follows reports, confirmed by the town's MPs, that Honda plans to cease production at its South Marston plant by 2021 or 2022.

Coun David Renard, leader of Swindon Borough Council, said: “Following today’s media reports, we await an official announcement from Honda of the UK Manufacturing on the future of its Swindon plant. We stand ready to do everything we can, working with the Government to support workers and their families.”
