Two people have been arrested following a drugs warrant in Swindon this morning which found a large stash of cannabis and weapons.

Officers from the Swindon South Community Policing Team and Community Tasking Team carried out the warrant, under the Misuse of Drugs Act, at an address in Lennox Drive at approximately 7am.

During the raid, a large amount of cannabis in deal bags was seized along with a quantity of cash, a number of weapons including knives and BB gun, and items believed to be proceeds of crime including several pairs of trainers.

A 21-year-old local man and a 19-year-old local woman were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

They have both been taken to Gablecross custody for questioning where they remain.

Acting Inspector Dave Tippetts said: “This warrant was carried out following intelligence received from the local community and it is a good example of how important it is that members of the public speak to us if they suspect drug activity in their area. We will act on the information we receive.

“Drugs are often seen as a victimless crime, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. During this raid, we found a large quantity of cannabis which had been prepared to sell on to vulnerable members of our community. I am pleased that we have been able to intercept and prevent this from happening.”
