ANTI-BREXIT campaigners from Swindon will head to the capital next month to call for a final say on the exit deal.

Swindon for Europe plans to take more than 90 people with them to the People’s Vote March on March 23.

Activist Sam Hollings said: “We think were there needs to be another vote, everything is to play for. The country is still divided. Brexiteers and Remainers haven’t really changed their minds. But some people are starting to wake up.”

When they marched in London last year, they had to book a bigger coach due to the high demand. They are aiming for 96 people on the coach this time.

Sam said: “There will almost certainly be even more than 96 going from Swindon as a lot of people make their own way. We’ve had a Swindon for Europe presence at the last two big marches in London, but also we have a couple of people that go to London every single week to help with the Stand of Defiance European Movement protest.

“Swindon is strongly connected to the rest of the world by its web of international employers, and so we have to be very careful about changing our relationship with the rest of the world. This is why we’ve decided to march.”

Every week, volunteers go on the streets to speak to people about Brexit. They found out that opinions in Swindon are fairly divided into three different categories. “Perhaps one third of people don’t really care about Brexit, or don’t understand it. Another third think Brexit is a great idea, although often they also feel betrayed by Theresa. Finally, one third think Brexit is disaster,” said Sam.
