Solicitors firms from Swindon joined forces again to raise more than £5,500 during Prospect Hospice’s annual Make a Will Month initiative.

The charity encouraged people to write or review their will with the support of a free service from a solicitor from each of the firms involved in return for a donation to the hospice. Each September the solicitors agree to waive their fee for writing a will in support of the initiative, helping to fund the end-of-life care services to patients from across the local community.

Amy Francombe, Prospect Hospice’s community and events manager said: “We would like to thank Bower & Bailey LLP, Francis George Solicitor-Advocate, Star Legal, Royds Withy King, BLB and Optimum Professional Services for supporting Make a Will Month. The money raised will go towards the cost of providing dedicated end-of-life care to patients across Swindon, Marlborough and north east Wiltshire. We are now looking to organise this year’s initiative in September and would welcome any solicitors who would like to take part to get in touch.”

A spokesman for Francis George Solicitor Advocate Ltd said: “We support several local charities and events, however Prospect Hospice is unique to Swindon in that it provides an incredible service to local people and their families at a difficult time in their lives. Many of us have had friends and clients who have benefitted from having Prospect Hospice on their doorstep and we will continue to support them in carrying out their good work.”

Make a Will Month has been a fundraising initiative that Prospect Hospice has run for ten years and in that time has raised £102,402 for the local charity.
