BALMY spring-like weather will settle over the UK and Swindon for much of next week.

From tomorrow temperatures around Swindon are forecast to hit highs of 11 and 12 degrees.

Warm air sweeping up from Europe will extend across the UK until Thursday, bringing dry, sunny weather to many parts of the country – with the possibility of temperatures soaring well above the seven degree average for February.

Steve Willington, chief meteorologist at the Met Office, said: “By the weekend we could see temperatures almost 10 degrees higher than what we might normally expect at this time of year, so there will certainly be a spring-like feel in the air across the country."

But those expecting an early start to spring may be disappointed with the weather due in March.

The Met office warned to expect a mixture of wet and windy weather to many parts, with intermittent dry spells, next month.

It predicted milder conditions to remain more likely with occasional colder spells bringing overnight frosts.
